The photo book BÔLI (translated ACHES) is a debut art book of the visual and sound artist Urška Preis. It foregrounds monotonous photograms made with menstrual blood, but also offers a voyeuristic opportunity to look at a non-heterogeneous multitude of photographs that refer to the artist's exploration of the concepts of zoe, bios and psyche defined in her own way. By moving from the public to the private and referring to women's work and community, she explores views on women's pain through a chronologically scattered personal history. The variation of the French binding combined with the unique covers hand-tinted with menstrual blood (making every copy unique) represents an original solution to the limited book edition.
